Fall Trends 2009 for WOMEN

Here’s a list of things that will work for just about any woman and any age:

• Use color in shoes and handbags.
They certainly don’t have to match and it really makes an outfit of neutrals look fresh. With the economy being what it is, people are hesitant to spend money on things that aren’t practical thus this season’s colors are black and charcoal.

• Big shoulders and triangular-shaped silhouettes.
The bold shoulders of the 80’s are back but the great thing about them is that they really make a waist look small, so indulge. And yes, it will be a bit of a trend but this is one that can flatter just about any silhouette.

• OpaqueTights
These are a must-have accessory for wearing with skirts or dresses. Instead of wearing plain black pantyhose, just make the switch to a pair of tights. They’ll keep you warmer and they have a much longer life than regular hosiery.

• Footwear – it’s all over the map
The two most popular shoes styles will be booties and rounded-toe platform heels. However, the good news is that pretty much everything goes right now.

Thick heels, stiletto heels, round toe, pointed toe – whatever works best for you and your needs, you can wear anything with confidence because it’s in. Trust me.

• Texture
Textures and fabrics will be very rich and heavy. In other words, tweeds, furs (faux included of course), metallics, boiled wool and leathers (or pleathers whichever you prefer) will be a mainstay you’ll see in the stores. All of your key pieces, meaning your blazers, coats, jackets, dresses and sweaters will have some drama or “wow” to them.

Fall Trends 2009 for MEN

Neutrals (black, brown, tan, grey, cream and white) are more practical and so are people these days and that’s why there’s little color in the fall collections. For casual, the look is still more fitted to the body and not sloppy, especially denim. A cuff at the bottom and a short boot and it’s a great weekend, after-hours look.

For accessories, wool scarves are BIG, big, big this season. They really bode well with a casual jacket and look finishing a suit or a sport coat, which is yet another must-have item for fall.

Also for casual, sweaters look great with pants and denim that are more fitted.

For dress, tweed is the favored textile and the suit is the favored garment. A fun addition to the suit is the “waistcoat” or vest and this can match or be a completely different color and texture altogether.
